Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Honest Bread collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what the site needs to work.

1. What we collect

  • Account information. Your email address, a hashed password, and the username you choose. Your email is never shown publicly.
  • Profile and content. Anything you choose to post: display name, bio, avatar, bakes, recipes, photos, questions, answers, journal entries, reviews, comments, likes, and reports. Posts and profiles are public; starter journal entries can be marked private.
  • Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) kept by our hosting providers for security and debugging.

2. Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in (authentication session cookies). We do not run third-party advertising trackers or sell data to data brokers.

3. How we use your information

  • To operate the site: accounts, posting, comments, notifications about your content;
  • To moderate: reviewing reported content and enforcing our Terms;
  • To communicate: account emails (confirmation, password reset) and, if you subscribe, the newsletter;
  • To keep the site secure: rate limiting and abuse prevention.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that host the site's infrastructure:

  • Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage);
  • Vercel (web hosting and content delivery).

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the site and its members.

5. How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and personal data are removed; content you posted may be deleted or disassociated from your identity. Backups expire on a rolling schedule.

6. Your rights and choices

  • You can edit your profile and delete your own posts at any time;
  • You can request a copy of your data, or deletion of your account and data, by emailing us;
  • If you are in a region with specific privacy rights (such as the EU/EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. We honor such requests regardless of where you live.

7. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Changes

We will post any changes to this policy here and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced on the site.
